Icy Monroe has been hailed as a passionate singer whose love for music flows through everyone that hears her. Mrs. Monroe’s grace and talent has been conveyed through many roles including Gretel in Hansel and Gretel, Despina in Così fan tutte, and Catherine in The Butler Opera Center's world premiere of A View from the Bridge by William Bolcom. Icy attended the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria during the summer of 2006. She won the state and regional National Association of Teachers of Singing Competitions (2007), as well as the District Metropolitan Opera Auditions (2007, 2008, 2011). Mrs. Monroe is also the winner of the 2008 Classical Singer Competition-University Division, and the winner of the “Peoples’ Choice” Award in the Dallas Opera Guild Competition-2008. In January 2009, Icy was invited to participate in a Master class with Maestro James Levine via the Marilyn Horne Foundation. Mrs. Monroe made her professional solo debut with the Marshall Symphony Orchestra in January 2011. 

With the help and encouragement of the University of Texas-Austin, her cd (with music partner Artina McCain) titled "I,Too" is now being distributed through the Naxos label, and is available through every major music site, including itunes and amazon. Icy is also featured in the award winning documentary, When I Rise, the story of Barbara Smith Conrad. As of May 2011, Icy has appeared as a solo artist with The South Arkansas Symphony Orchestra and The Shreveport Summer Music Festival. She recently made an appearance at the Colour of Music Festival in South Carolina as the soprano soloist in HayDn’s Lord nelson Mass, and will debut as the soprano soloist in Beethoven’s 9th Symphony February 2020.

With two previous degrees behind her (BM-Vocal Performance 2007 and MM-Opera 2009), Mrs. Monroe had the privilege of being one of the first to graduate with an Artist Diploma (2011) from the University of Texas-Austin, thus adding a third Degree/Post-Master's Diploma to her name. Icy continues to perform extensively, and has expanded her work to include teaching voice lessons as her studio continues to grow. her business, The Voice Clinic (specializing in voice lessons and voice rehabilitation), opened in Austin the summer of 2015.
